History of Spital Square

As part of the head office refurbishment, Cavendish Engineers has done research into the heritage building. The original building was numbered number 35 and was built in 1785.

The occupants of the building then were registered as surgeons. In the 18th century the building was re built, along with the rest of the street.

The picture shown here shows Spital Square in 1912, which housed two green grocers, and a barbers. The now famous Galvin restuarant next door was originally a school for girls.
